Jamal Malik is a static character – he doesn’t change through the film. From the start of the movie we get to know that his goal in life is to find Latika and marry her. This is what the film is based on. Compared to Salim, Jamal has the right attitudes in life. He doesn’t care about material goods or wealth at all; he just wants to find his love. I would say that the character is both romantic and smart - He knows when to put his foot down and when to remain in the background. For example, he does not give up on Latika when they are drawn away from each other the first time, in the horrible scene with Maman and his folks, and he stay to the truth despite the torture backstage at the tv-show. This is sort of the braking point of Jamal’s fight for Latika, I think. His sacrifice shows what a brave person he is. For Jamal, the tv-show “Who wants to be a millionaire”, is the last opportunity to find her.
With an eye to material goods as a global challenge, I would say that this film is very relevant today.

Welcome
Hi!
Welcome to my school blog. Here I will publish school material that we (me and my classmates) are working with in “International English”, in Norway at school. This is meant to be a place to discuss articles and different themes, so come on and bring on your meaning.
Enjoy! ;D
